Today I will tell you the story of Lily. Lily was a small kitten. She was very very pretty to look at. She was flurry , with fur that glistened, they glistened because their color was pure white. That is why she was given the name Lily — that means as white as a lily flower. The eyes of Lily were grey and round. Her small mouth was pink. Everybody in the house both loved her and hated her. Because when she was good she was very very good and when she was bad she was just a baby devil. She jumped over the closet, dropped this and that or stand on the top of daddy’s study table and my God what a mess she created there or if she went inside mummy’s kitchen she was sure to be dragged out and thrown inside the washing room for hours. And in the evenings when everybody returned, the drama queen Lily was changed into a demure, gentle maiden pleasing everybody turn by turn. She first would go to daddy and threw her mouth inside his two legs licking his hands and stopped only when he would have patted her small head. Then she she would go to mommy and jumped straight into her lap and sat there tickling her by throwing her mouth here and there till she kissed her. And when both of them were made happy by her tricks she would jump outside the window to be her naughty self again.
One sunny day she seemed to be extra energetic. She never went into the garden the straight way, that is through the main door. She would take other ways –that is either jumping through the window, or climbing all the stairs going to the terrace and jumping here and there and landing in the garden of Mrs Meena. Mrs Meena’s garden was the best on that street. The flower beds were very tastefully done with matching two colored flowers. The big pots were full with bushes of red ripe tomatoes, bell peppers and red round chillies. Now sweet madam Lily was neither interested in flowers nor in tomatoes but like a queen she would like to glide through the flower beds and the result –the crushed flowers. Mrs Meena saw Lily entering her garden and this time she was determined to teach Lily a lesson. Lily had also seen Meena’s angry face. She tried to run from that place. She was running in the garden and Meena was running after her. The garden was now sadly in a very bad shape. Mommy had seen everything from the window. She went immediately to her neighbor, comforted her and promised to do something about it. That Sunday the windows had net fixed all over, springs on doors made Lily trapped inside and she was allowed to go out with somebody. For a week she was sitting in a corner not knowing what to do and then after a week she was again with her small pranks but only inside the house.
One day Mrs Meena came to say hello to mommy and brought a milk cake for Lily . Lily is such a darling of everybody that nobody could be angry with her for long. I am sure you like her too. Don’t you?
