IN SEARCH OF THE CRADLE OF CIVILIZATION scholars acknowledge the impressive accomplishments of ancient civilizations of Anatolia, Egypt, Meso- America, Tibet and Central Asia but consider the Indus valley civilization to be the oldest continuous and living tradition. A section of the oldest Vedic literature written by an archetypal god- man Manu deals with the ancient Vedic doctrine of world Ages known as Yugas namely — Satyayuga, Treta, Dwapar, and Kaliyuga,– each shorter and darker than the last. The astronomical calculations of the periods of Yugas vary but the characteristics peculiar to each period have remarkable similarities in all traditions. It is due to the stability of cosmic movement of planets. Our solar system with sun and its family of planets is located in the milky way. It completes one revolution around the center of the milky way galaxy every 225 to250 million years known as solar system’s galactic year. In its rotation the sun takes this galactic center as its dual -in Hinduism recognized as Vishnunabhi. Sun takes 12,000 terrestrial years for moving towards the Vishnunabhi and 12,000 years for moving away from Vishnunabhi . This astronomical phenomenon is at the core of World Age doctrines in Hindu, Norse, Mayan and Egyptian traditions. This movement is also considered responsible for the revolutionary history of life on Earth and makes the course of history cyclical in nature. The nearest our sun is to the galactic center, mankind is at the highest level of intelligence, power and instinctive knowledge. As it turns towards the other pole of its orbit, by degrees it moves away from truth, morality and enters a dark period of ignorance, hence causes a decline of the spirit of mankind to drop from the pinnacle of divinity to crass materialism. The movement of our solar system in ascending order again gradually takes us nearer to the divine and pushes forth the physical as well as intellectual levels known as “electric” world. It happens because life on Earth is connected with sky and evolves in a field of universal energy embedded within it.
The whole surreal drama enacted in the sky fascinates like a magical dream, nevertheless it is real . The existence of the galactic center was first verified scientifically by an engineer who was investigating the source of interference with the telephone communications. He discovered that the radio waves emanating from the galactic center were causing the disturbance Intersetingly .NASA has recorded this vibration in the universal language system for the human ears and mentioned that this is precisely the sound that is mentioned is the Vedas as OM. Most ancient cultures agree that our universe is resonant with vibrational frequencies. And the effect of this rotation of solar system on earth is however, physically with us reported in the well documented history of mankind.
It is observed that Kaliyuga began when Krishna left his body after the Kurukshetra war in 3102 BCE. In the opinion of Sadhguru Jaggi we have completed descending Dwapara and Kaliyuga and we are in the last leg of ascending Dwapara which is completing in 2082 and which ushers in Treta – a “new era of upward movement of human consciousness”. Swami Shri Yukteshwarji Giri in his scholarly book THE HOLY SCIENCE gives a detailed picture of the Yuga cycles and in his calucalations comes very near to Sadhguru Jaggi’s results . According to Swamiji we are well in the Dwapara yuga of which 1894 years have now passed away. The year given In the Preface to THE HOLY SCIENCE (A.D.1949) by Paramhansa Yogananda is 249 Dwapara. Stupendous visible developments in all spheres of knowledge, and all-round prosperity of mankind testifies the observation.
The complex astronomical calculations to pin -point the beginning of Yugas and their overlapping period vary. But what if man cannot choose the Yuga of his choice ? We have been blessed with a body with endless possibilities that can amazingly bring heaven inside and around it. Life on earth is connected with sun and other planets because it is a part of the solar system. It also shares the same electromagnetic field. Hence the charged chakras of the body can be attuned with the corresponding frequency. That is why the ancient Greek philosophers said that the microcosm reflects the macrocosm. In our body the “spiritual sun” or “the principal seat of sun” is the Ajna chakra located at the back of the two physical eyes near the pineal gland. The awakened Ajna chakra gets perceptions beyond the physical sights. That is why Christ said “If thine eyes be single, thy body will be full of light.” The seven chakras – -anatomically plexuses embedded in the spine – – are the hidden treasures. When activated they transport the tiny consciousness entangled in the darkness of ignorance associated with the Kaliyuga and purified at lowest chakras at the coccyx and above, to the highest level of self realization associated with Satyayuga and realized at Ajna chakra . It is possible to “generate our own ether” in the words of Sadhguru Jaggi. A Satyayuga can be created within us!!!
